And yes Audiophiles are a dying breed. I think we will be totally extinct in another 25 years.

Disgree entirely, just based on the average age of the r/headphones subreddit.
The nature of the systems changes based on age and disposable income, for sure, but there wouldn't be an explosion in the world of hi-res digital audio if people my age were entirely satisfied by listening on their phones.

35 years ago tubes were declared dead. 30 years ago LP's were declared dead. Somewhere around that time paper cone drivers were considered unsuitable for "high end" use. Funny how all 3 of those still make the best music today.I'm 57 and fondly remember the 15 mile bicycle trip to the nearest Lafayette store when I was 11 to buy a couple tubes for an amp I inherited from my grandfather...
