They are unmeasurable because they are interpretations, descriptions, metaphors for effects of causes that I expect are ultimately quantifiable, though some of the effects are the result of more than one cause working together. Reviews that use these interpretive terms are attempting to describe how a piece of gear or system sounds, not why it sounds that way. Attempts to identify and measure the causes are made all of the time but, as we know, remain a work in progress.
