If the recording (or broadcast) was made with attention to good production values, then I want to hear as much of that unalloyed product that my system and room will allow me to hear. If the source is crappy and that's what comes through sonically, then so be it (though the performance itself may still be worth the listen).

Depending on who's at the producing/engineering helm, the recording process itself--mike selection and placement, mixing decisions, etc.--is to some greater or lesser degree an artistic process, and I don't want that technical overlay of the performance "enhanced" any more than the limitations of my equipment and setup will permit. And that applies to the Duke's as well as anyone else's recordings I listen to.
