I demoed the GS1000 when it first came out. Listened to it on about 3 different head amps and it did absolutely nothing for me. The 225/325 sounds ok to me with metal/loud RnR but that's about it. I think you will find headphones to very much be a matter of personal choice and taste. Age seems to enter in to it as well. I think, but I could be wrong that younger ears like Grado's better than older ears. My ears are almost 50 years old. I have not heard the RS-1's but there is no way they are worth $600-$700. The GS1000 at $1000msrp is easily found for $800 on the net and Grate-O's aren't supposed to be discounted. What does that tell ya?
