I went to visit an old guitar teacher, and he told me one of the bands the kids all want to learn today is actually very good musically. They play fast, with a lead guitar in each channel, with a lot of whammy, etc.,but all the notes are in pitch and there's a lot of complex music theory. Well recorded, also. It's still death/thrash metal, tho....
