"Putting it in the test bench won't reveal all the parameters (though it seems like it can indicate the basic ones factoring in), and that's where the listening tests come in. In them you can determine the existence (or otherwise) of differences; only you need to do that a few times in a row in the presence of other people and with your eyes closed. I think that sounds like a reasonable expectation, too."
I think we both know where this debate would head if we took it to it's logical conclusion, but all I'll say is that differences I can barely detect under A/B conditions usually become obvious over extended listening if they exist.
Tow cables can sound very similar when directly compared to each other, but whereas one will have you listening to music until the early hours after many days of evaluation, the other will have you losing interest and a switch to the first cable will bring improvements which weren't obvious when the cables were first compared.
Best Regards,
Chris redmond.
