...and the winner is--prepared horseradish. I love the stuff, and use it for more applications than most people have ever even contemplated. My uncle used to grow the stuff, and we would sit out in the backyard grating it by hand and pickling it jars--with or without the beet juice and/or onions/garlic/ramps/dill. We even did some batches with wine and/or hot sauce or dried chilis.

I had fresh home made ( and pickled ) only once and it was delightful : )
Cannot say so much for store bought ......
