for my recorded music that is no longer available on some streaming networks like Qobuz and Amazon Music that I know where there before because I used to stream them like some Yellow Jackets and Jeff Lorber Fusion.
What surprised me how good it sounds in my system, I mostly used it for recording music for the car and used with headphones. I don't want to rack up the hours on my stylus.
I still use my Bluesound Node2i and CD player but for LP's I'm recording alot of material to play back on the Tascam. I have the Tascam going to and external DAC the Musical Paradise MP-D1 Tube DAC, sound really nice.
Follow Ups:
I was using the DA-3000 as a source into my Apogee Big Ben, then into the Border Patrol Se dac. I was using a networked computer with ipad control, etc. but saw the Decware mods and went to purchase the decware. LMAO 11 month waiting period said no way.
I bought the DA-3000 and just used it as a source without the mod. Anyhow I got a brain tumor and was in the hospital and all my audio was disassembled and tile replaced the carpet. I still haven't hooked up the DA-3000 and have gone back to the networked PC since the tascam is tedious for playback. That said it did sound great as a transport.

So sorry to hear about the brain tumor, I hope you are all well now with lingering affect from it.
Really, Decware makes it seem like it ready for purchase. Yeah that is a long time to wait. I don't why some places do that, at least have one ready for sale. Well, there went my plan for that! haha! I will look into doing my normal upgrades via power supply and signal path.
You are super lucky if you can make those mods especially with the power supply that's pretty awesome. If you want it would be nice to see the mods you do.
It will be two months on the 10th from the time they discharged me from rehab and I think I'm doing pretty well considering- could be better could be worse but overall things are going OK. Though it will be a long road before I'm back to normal.
I have one extra slot on my power conditioner so maybe I will connect the tascam just for kicks

On hold due to my Phonos Preamp having a channel go out. I have to get that fixed first then resume my other projects.
Sorry about your preamp. I just sent in my headphones to have the enigizer fixed and it sucks being without them. Hang in there and I am looking forward to the mods.

yeah, I was really pissed because this SPL Phono is not cheap and still under 100hrs of playing time on it. Good thing it's still under warranty and will be fixed for free. I already have a repair ticker I will drop it off tomorrow at the repair center.
I'm getting plenty of time with my Electrocompaniet ECP-1 Phono preamp that is heavily upgraded and modded. So far sounding really good compared to the SPL Phonos.
I will open up the Tascam later this week and start getting the values and parts list I want to replace in it. I will put BC Component, Chinsan Elites, Panasonic FM where I can. Also wondering how Schottky Diode will work in this as well.
I'm using a Tascam CD-RW900mkii as a CDP when my cheap Oppo died. Cheaper than buying a new CDP and sounds pretty good.
I've used a Teac PD-H600 as a transport for years. Also doubles as a very listenable CDP. Kinda off the beaten path from Tascam, but in the same family.
With the Stable Patter for Transport duties.
for many years. Replaced with Touch when I went server based.
I think TASCAM's DA-3000 is an excellent digital recorder, but its display is rather limited for using it as a playback source. I did that for a while until I discovered FiiO digital audio players on Amazon. The top FiiO DAPs sound just as good as my TASCAM DA-3000 and their high resolution touchscreen displays provide more convenience and versatility for playing music. In fact, I use the FiiO M17 DAP with its 2.3-megapixel touchscreen display for playing digital music nowadays. It plays all digital formats up through DSD512 directly from plugin memory in addition to streaming via Wi-Fi. It's my one and only source for digital playback nowadays.
Happy listening!

Too expensive for me now. I have gear that I'm happy with even if it's a little older. I will go broke trying to keep up technology wise. :)
It's a great component. I wish I had not sold mine. Transparent and extremely easy to use
but I had more use for it than I thought. So it here to stay. I was thinking of getting the Decware upgrade for it.These are still going for pretty good money used too.

So you're playing files off a memory card(s)?
Yes, sometimes I just want to let the Albums I have recorded that are not on Qobuz just play through and enjoy.
"....playing files off a memory card(s)?"
It's a few generations removed from state-of-the art and reminds me of the 1990's but it works and some folks still prefer it.
Simple is sometimes the best option. I still listen to CDs off a transport.
I can't say that I prefer the sound of LP recordings through the DA-3000 or through the Bluesound Node using the same DAC. I decided to use the Node to play files mainly because I record LPs while listening to them so I just wanted the Tascam to be a simple recorder.
