I have an old Cary SLP 90, that was theoretically "modified by Dennis Had himself."

I picked it up, second hand, at a store that was getting out of high-end audio & getting into home theater.
I sent it back to Cary & had most of the mods "un-modded", but I also had them add balanced ins. (Balanced outs was the only mod that I kept.) However, & sadly, adding balanced ins cost me the 12AX7 phono stage.

  Haha! I am glad you asked.
  Okay, so this was back in '99, & at the time I came upon this preamp (in Ohio) I had a couple of ARC VTM120s with a B&K audio-video digital preamap & I just knew I was missing something.
  The way the Cary, which I wound up buying, was configured was as follows: only one set of RCA ins for CD, one set of balanced outs, & the L & R balance pots were defeated. All this was done, theoretically by Dennis Had's personal soldering ironing, in the name of "hot rodding" (not my term) the preamp.
  Wow. But I bought it anyway. The first thing I did was to call Cary up about changing some things around; this was back in the days when Kirk Owens was the guy you talked to, at Cary Audio, when you needed customer service, & I believe that he was the equivalent of the shop manager (I had had experience speaking with him after I bought my first tube amp, a SLA 70 Signature). What we wound up doing (or I should say what he wound up doing) was restoring RCA ins for both the aux & tuner; restoring the L & R balance pots; restoring RCA outs, ADDING the set of balanced ins that I have been using ever since for CD (sacrificing the 12AX7 phono stage); & I told him that while he was at it, to throw in the oil-filled coupling caps that Cary was always hyping.
  Way more than you asked, but the short answer is yes, it does have RCA ins & I do have a half meter of Kimber Silver Streak with RCAs that I am not using for anything.

    Then you have every reason to get the Marantz KI and have the balanced input available down the road. Nice preamp!
