I am still amazed. This CD player has been on continuous duty for a long time. I just thought it would be good to check-in and give an update.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten

Many Thanks! for the update- Sherman.
No doubt that the 80's gave us the inception of the Compact Disc and Compact Disc Player. The 1990's really expounded on the player and made them better via modding. A 3rd revolution came around in the early 2000's w/ the SACD spinner and we saw a few brave souls modding them as well.
I bought my 1st CD player in 1988, a Sony ES, it finally died in 2005.
I like the Esoteric spinners for SACD duty only. I am still auditioning
CD players of the newer variety.
Keep me posted & Happy Listening!
I also have one of the Njoe Tjoeb players and I'm happy with the sound. I too broke off one of the pins on the upsampler and it no longer works. The original Ediswan tubes have expired and replaced with Amperex 6DJ8 A-frames.
I would put some of my better tubes in there, but the display has gotten so dim that I can't tell when it is on unless I'm a foot or two away and I sometimes find that it has been on for a week or two without being played because it looks like it's off (nearly unreadable). I don't want to run my expensive tubes in there unless I'm playing music. Wish they had a replacement display for it.
Other than me breaking a pin off, I have not had a problem with the unit for the 5 to 10 years I've had it. It's a great sounding machine.

Thanks! for sharing- Larry.
