He never really knew about hi-end, but loves his music concerts and had decent sound from his HT setup. But he loves my system and hears and understands the differences. He's become quite interested in the hobby. He takes a great interest in but doesn't really care what I buy for it or do with it... as long as I have the money for it. Which means I had to sweet talk a bit for new cables because he wants me to pay off credit card before I do anything else. Actually his entire focus for both of us this year is to pay off debts and take care of some more important issues like a trip to visit my family and my sisters new foster baby, a vacation to Utah national parks (we do photography too)... kitchen floor needs replaced, house and deck need painted... etc etc.
I must say there was a lot of upgrading this year though. Modded the 1.6s, upgraded the Ayre cd and pre, and now new cables.
We both have our toys and we're both pretty accepting of each other spending money on them.

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like you two have this worked out well.
Good luck with your IC research. I had never heard of it before so I looked it up. There are so many medical conditions out there that don't get enough attention because of the population size.

several researchers and companies finally got NIH funding this year... it's a first! Hopefully it means big and great things coming in the next few years. I don't want a lifetime of this. The pain and other symptoms and lifestyle restrictions etc suck. :(

During the Bush regime much of the NIH money was siphoned off for things like anthrax vaccines, which is really just a way of hiding military spending. The chances of receiving a medical grant were less than 10% back then. The Obama and the Democrats are trying to restore the NIH's budget. Looks like it's starting to work.
Good luck with things. I read up on it and it doesn't sound like there are any miracle cures around the corner. On the other hand, there is a miracle cure for my spinal cord injury around the corner. Unfortunately politics invades everything and it will take twice as long as it should to get this research funded. Just take it day by day, that's all you can do...
