Interesting query- Charles;
I venture to say that Blue Note is staying true to its Jazz legacy.
As far as the other major labels, it is hit-and-miss. The internet really created a new frontier regarding the music biz.

And this seems to be the first serious response to those changes. (Obviously downloads that eliminated the need for physical media was a gigantic shift, but it did not eliminate the need for labels. BandCamp tries to, but relies on the artist to generate "organic" growth by exposure to their audience by touring, building up from local levels to regional, and - in rare cases - to national.)
