Hey all I have a Rotel RC-1090 Preamp and I what to use the SPDIF out of my TV any suggestions on a good adapter or a different Preamp?
I have a RB-1090 AMP as well so I would like to stick with Rotel

There are DACs at almost all price and performance levels.

Doesn't your TV have analog left/right audio outputs?
I don't know of any cheap D to A converters off hand, maybe look for a used Cambridge Audio DAC Magic. Another option would be to find an older Rotel A/V preamp used. The 1090 may sound better though. If you are going to remain 2-channel it wouldn't be worth the expense of a new A/V processor. If you wanted to upgrade the 2-channel preamps with built in DAC's are becoming popular. Not sure if Rotel has gone there. I know Van Alstine and Bel Canto have them.
No my Phillips only has SPDIF out... Crazy but that's is.
Also I want to get a Mac mini and load all my lossless music on it. I believe I will need a good D to A converter to go from USB out to the Rotel Preamp. Maybe they make a USB and SPDIF in D to A converter. Looks like I need to do some homework ;)
