Well, my first SS amps after having been into modern and vintage tube amps. I wasnt sure how the lack of autoformers would suit me originally, as I liked the detailed yet smooth presentation from the autof. amps. (i had MC250, MC2100, MC2105). Older technology, i know, but good stuff, all in spec always.
First I purchased one amplifier. The newer version with on/off switch, XLR inputs, etc. At that time driving JBL L-96 speakers. It was a great combo and quite enlightening to the capabilities of the L-96. The bass took came to life with reasonably low but with better yet tightness and detail. The midbass was world class. Not a hint of harshness in the mids and highs.
Me, liking stacks of pretty to look at green light, bought a second one, albeit the older panlocs version ( I have been told that they are the same amp internlly). The difference in bass definition is staggering when in mono configuration. I was happy as a dog with 2 tails at the overall fuss free operation and simply musical sound of these amps.
In come later my current speakers, the Talon Raven C....This speaker takes the bass to a whole new dimension in reach and definition, and the amps at 200 W/ch are a great match. There is simply ample power for any kind of music, and a detailed intimacy for slow, low volume, cymbal brushing sounds.
For the price that these amps go for in the used market, its a bloody bargain!!
My only thought of ever selling these amps is if i move up to a MC352.

I have had A C712 and MC7100 for several years now and enjoy them. They are well thought of units, and have that Mac classic look if that is your thing.
I have been thinking of making a change to some other stuff or Mac. But I may just try a second 7100 and run them mono.
One point my books shows 300 Watt @ 8 ohm mono. One thing the book also says is you should only use them mono, into an 8 om load.
yeah, correct on the 8 ohm load...you will enjoy them in mono for sure!!
