Hello all,
Well I recently acquired a Rowland Model 5 amplifier. What a wonderful piece of electronics. As a long time tube guy, I have to say the Rowland has the presentation of a good tube amplifier, but without all the "romantic additions". Yes I know some of my fellow tube brethren might take issue with this statement, but hey I am just tellin it like I hear it.
Well the question regards pre-amplifiers. Ideally I would like to source a consumate for it. However, I wonder if there are any otiii, espeially vintage, that might work out well.
I use a Bolder modified Squeezebox/DAC combo for source. The volume control arrangement is sonically transparent. So I wondr if a Burson Buffer or some other gain stage arrangement may be worth investigating. My expoosure to SS pre-amplifiers is lacking, especially among 90's era gear. So any thoughts and opinions would be worth investigating.
Regards
Mister Pig
