I recently purchased a Mod Squad Deluxe Line passive preamp and got some offer from the McCormack Audio for an upgrade for a better volume knob ($500 for the TKD stepped attenuator), and for some internal wiring upgrade . Does anyone have any experience yet. Thanks
Follow Ups:
You can buy that TKD volume control for $100. & install yourself.
If you know of someplace to buy the TKD P65CS series stepped-attenuator for $100, I would love to know about it. My cost used to be about $220 each, but it has gone up to $250 each, and TKD has now *doubled* the price. When Michael Percy runs out of stock, he will not buy any more - they have priced themselves out of the market. Too bad - it is a very nice part.
Before you buy one of these volume controls for a DIY project, be advised that it will not fit in the Line Drive chassis as-is. The chassis must be modified to allow the installation.
Anyone interested in the upgrade work I offer for the original Line Drive can contact me directly - my e-mail address is my username.
Best regards,
Steve McCormack
