I heard a rumor that Audio Alternatives closed... Hopefully I'm wrong. Otto's a great guy (and unique). For records I've shopped at Wuxtry in Decatur. Not terribly easy to get to from Duluth, especially during rush hour. There is also one on Chamblee-Tucker road. Closer to Duluth but I've never shopped there.
Audio Atlanta is in Marrietta which is NW ATL, Duluth is NE. You would have to go in toward ATL, across the perimeter and back out. Also bad at rush hour(s) just like the rest of Atlanta.
As far as my plan... I want to check out each of the styluses to make sure none of them is severely damaged. For the ones that are not obviously "bad" I will install the cartridges and listen to them on some early '80s disco-ish stuff that is in great shape because I NEVER play it. If the cart I'm testing sounds bad then I will throw it away, or at least mark it as bad so I don't have to go through this again. Maybe 2-3 of them will sound good!
If nobody comes up with a microscope in ATL I will seek out Otto or Audio Atlanta, or else buy a microscope on feebay. Then you all can come over and use it when you need to.
Thanks for everyone's response!
