Vinyl Asylum Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ. |
|
Hi! I just purchased a 9600 and when I record an LP, the recording is very soft and the bass is boomy in comparison to LP playback. My setup is as follows:1. I am recording from my preamp line outs. I need to set the volume at 3:00 (!) in order to get full range recording where I very occasionally get a yellow bar.
2. Speakers and amps are off.
3. I record a side (88.1/20 bit), normalize it and then split into tracks. I then burn as Red Book.
I am assuming that the recording sounding should sound the same as the LP (or at least very close), but the recording I get is really soft and very noticablely different.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.
Peter

- Maybe it's an impedance matching issue. - Quiet Earth 08:25:45 07/18/06 (0)
- Ist suggestion NEVER normalize. You are in effect making the loud and quiet passages all the same volume .... - tubesforever 19:03:45 07/17/06 (6)

- Well you have normalization for recording a signal and for burning the disk. - tubesforever 23:50:26 07/17/06 (0)

- I think it is the normalization step. His computer is analyzing quiet to loud and readjusting its range. - tubesforever 19:05:48 07/17/06 (0)
