Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

You already have a linestage. Why change it?

If you're just getting into vinyl then keep what you have and add a table and phonostage. Why change the nature of what you listen to most of the time in order to add phono? How do you know how deep you will get into vinyl? Not to mention that you are more flexible with an outboard phono stage no matter what you get into later on. Just my opinion. I spin a lot of silver discs too and I kind of like to keep things separate.

I can't speak for the Audible Illusions pre but I still have my Counterpoint SA5.1 phono pre amp. It's begging to be sold or updated. I don't really want to put any time or money into it although it would be easy to bring it up to date. Man,those caps in there are 20 years old. I think if I were just getting into vinyl (or getting back into it) I would buy a new phono stage. There's an awful lot to chose from. These are good times.

Damn! I just ruined my opportunity to sell my Counterpoint. Oh well . . .
