Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Okay, but ...

... when the newer RVG CD remaster of Midnight Blue walks all over the Liberty pressing, why bother with the LP at all? Granted, I'm generalizing here from a specific example, and I'll almost invariably prefer the LP version and, further, I like many of the Fantasy/OJC reissues just fine. But some are really inferior and so bad that they interfere with enjoyment of the music. Depends on the condition of the masters, I imagine, or how good a remaster that someone like Phil De Lancie (who did the OJC vinyl) was able to achieve on any given day.

By all means, let's enjoy whatever pressings of whatever records we own. In both our cases, I imagine, we don't really know what we're missing by not having the originals :-]
