I would certainly rather have an original, but considering their prices I think these are a very reasonable alternative (even the 2nd and 3rd pressings which most of mine would be). Compared to other 70's pressings, for example the Fantasy reissues of the Prestige catalog, these are quite similar. Quite decent if not "special" sound, different character than the original.I just don't get it when people wax so poetic about the OJC releases and then turn up their nose at these kind of things. I can understand for those with the budget to afford $300 and up per album that a Liberty pressing would be a step down, but at <$10 they beat the hell out of new (digitally mastered) Blue Note reissues, not to mention CD's.
