I have some expensive Harmonix wooden units for under cables. They improved the dynamics but softened the high end. I ultimately figured out how to mount them on top my ceramic Suspenders and got the best of both worlds. I do suspect that lightly isolated cables benefit most, perhaps because their thin dielectric does not muddy their sound. I will concede, however, that wooden supports sound very good.
