Isolation?

Hi Pete,

"Some people refer to these shelves/platforms as isolation platforms (I may have even done so in the recent past), but I now like to think of them as damping platforms, as that is their most important function."

I'd almost call them "quasi-isolation" platforms. To me isolation and partial, frequency selective "isolation" are not the same thing. I don't believe damping is their major function either so "quasi-isolation" seems like the better description.

Then again, something either isolates or it doesn't. Partial isolation reminds me of partial silence.
