Re: black gates in parallel

Robert S., I think that ESR is only a low frequency measurement. You have to look at the self resonance of the caps (especially film types) to see that a small value will operate well at higher frequencies than almost any normal aluminum electrolytic cap. Black Gate caps are special, and they generally outperform normal quality AL caps. We have bypassed for years, but now we are backing off from this 'tweak' because the small caps also directly couple AC garbage to the signal ground . We do use extra high quality 'audio grade' electrolytic caps, rather than typical AL caps. Of course, we still keep the LOCAL bypass caps that are located very near the circuitry, and we find that the film cap quality is very important in this location.
