Re: Noise, impedance and sound

Hi Carlos,
The caps at the output of the pregelator I used were 10 mufarad as in the schematic in the LT1028 datasheet ( at www.linear.com)(low noise voltage regulator) and 2200 mufarad at the output of the superegulator. This produced sometimes faint low level oscillations I mentioned. This made me change the 2200mufarad caps to 100 mufarad. Later on I discovered the noise of the preregulator and changed the 10 mufarad cap to 470 mufarad to filter away the noise and ran into problems; again oscillations. Also discovered 7815 and 7915 are less prone to this kind of problem. Eventually I was so fed up by all these problems and completely disgarded the pregelators: EUREKA better sound from the circuit(= preamp). Immediately adapted this mod in my DAC. All in one the circuit without preregulator is more simple, sounds better and is totally adequate for preamp and DAC. For MC-phono use I add a simple pi filter consisting of two 22mH inductors and a extra pair of 4700 mufarad capacitors between the regulator and the raw supply. No effect on the sound however. I have had my share of 'trouble', I leave it this way untill someone proves me the new Jung circuit is better.
