Did you ever try replacing the speakers?
Something in the system is rectifying AC to create DC. For things to get HOT, like your CD player, it takes *power*. If you have already swapped the amp, it's not likely that.
I can see a scenario where bad / worn out / improperly wired crossover components could rectify AC to DC and send it back through the speaker wires to the rest of the system.
Other thought is to install a new known good ground rod and compare it to the existing one (measure AC and DC potential across the ground rods).
Do you have a rooftop/attic antenna connected to the system? It is possible for these to develop static buildup in many climates. What is the climate? Desert? Rainy? Northern? Southern? This can affect the ground issues, especially in dry areas.
But try new speakers first.
