Home Tweakers' Asylum

Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

If you heard a change,

then the tweak did something. My understanding is that it can only improve the electrical performance of the plug-outlet system. Dulling the high frequencies, to me, means that the tweak took away an artificial HF enhancement caused by acoustic resonance.

I experienced a horrid HF enhancement once, when I used some speaker cable lifters that had hard surfaces in casual contact. Cementing the parts together killed this acoustic resonance-based effect.

It may be the case that you are used to the artifact, so that its absence sounds like a dulling of the audio.

The thing to listen for is improved resolution of low-level musical detail.
