amount bass [ime] can sometimes be atributed to amount of vibrational magnitude.something which does ime enhance bass + without too many bad side effects [used as amp feet, or to elevate cords, for example] is rubber. I can't say this is why your vpods seemed to improve bass; I can only speculate.
But, I would guess that your overall resolution decreased...
I used to swear by elevating my p cords with pieces of rubber tubing, but no longer view this as an improvement...or at least, it doesn't seem work well with my current 'techniques'.
