I would disagree because the lowest frequency vibrations, which in my view do the most damage, will pass freely through the smallest contact area if such contact is rigid, as would be the case with what you describe.
The best way to reduce or eliminate the transfer of vibrations is to use a compliant mechanical low-pass filter with a resonance below the frequencies from which you wish to isolate. Roller bearings do this in the horizontal and rotational planes and air bearings do it in the vertical plane.
What you are describing is effective coupling which is not the same thing as isolation.
