Francis,Did you recap the filter supply with the same voltage value caps? Also, sometimes when you re-cap a tired amp---other borderline problems start to rear their ugly heads.
Like tired power tubes---that sounded okay with the old filter PS. But, now are pushed by the new cap PS. And thus, showing their age.
The old synergy effect, in reverse.
