Funny you should mention the NYAL. My new Foreplay reminds me somewhat of the SuperIt but much better dynamics and extension. No phono, though, but Doc is about to come out with one.
There is/was a Lazarus on Audiogon which has a tubey sound and cheap. Maybe start with an older Audible Illusions like the 2 series around $400 and go from there.
