Well, my 12AU7 arsenal consits of JJ/Tesla 12AU7, Amperex 7316PQ, Radiotechnique, Philips 5814A, Mullard CV4003 Box anode, Amperex and Tungsram E80CC, Tungsram 12AU7 (NICE..), but I keep coming back to Mullard Ecc82/12AU7, which I prefer to CV4003.NONE of the above, even the great Tungsram 12AU7, has that indefinable magic of midrange air/tone and just plain sex appeal of Mullard 12AU7.
Does the Raytheon or the CBS 5814A have that tone or do they side with the Philips 5814A sound, which I wasn't impressed with.
P.S. Keep in mind I use 2 pairs in my CD player in voltage gain and buffer stage. Thanks.
