Hi there,As someone with the firm believe that in a system without a LP Source (Turntable) there should be no need for active devices between source and amplifier, I'd say buy a suitable "integrated" Valve Amplifier (Conrad Johnson or Arc have nice models). Or get a Valve-Amp with enough gains and buy a suitable passive controller.
If you primary source is LP (as it is with me) you will find more payback from using an excellent Valve Preamp with a sonically neutral Poweramp.
Anyway, my experience.
