Dear Gary: You didn't state if one of your KT88 was running with a "cherry red "plate; this might be a blown bias feed resistor or grid resistor. Since the amp continued to run, it might be a blown screen resistor to one KT88; this would "shut-off" plate current to THAT tube. (That tube might have had a momentary short) I have a pair of Genelex/MOV KT88's that I have had since high-school, with over 3000 to 5000 hours on 'em, and they still run fine. I think you had just one bad tube; the amp needs to be checked out, however. Please let me know how it turns out. Happy Holidays!!! Joe, aka, the Beam Tube"
