Thanks John -On my horn system (basically 'Edgarhorn') my SE parallel 2A3 amp has less subjective 'tightness' than my parallel push-pull 6BX7 Ecio ST-70 based amp - prt of it is the lower damping facor in the SE but not all.
Is your Cary amp push-pull? - just curious as I have the SE3K transformers needed to do a SE amp w. either pentode, Ul or triode - these litle $75 units test much better than the Hammond stuff.
I'd assume if yur amp is push -pull then you could get maybe 12-15 wtts clean in class A with the triode-tied EL34 - my amps have no loop feedback so the gain stucture is kept failr low (6DJ8 input on the mod EICO ST-70)
Best Regards
Fred
