Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hi all, have a Pilot 240 I am working on, has a 5AR4 rectifier where the 1st pole is an 80 uf cap (voltage at that point is 340 vdc). This seems awfully high for the input cap off the rectifier, but I could not find any info in my tube manuals about max capacitance for the 5AR4 tube. Anyone have any info on this? Right now it has a cheap cap repair (some dipshite bridged a 40 uf cap onto the input cap, likely the cap is weak/leaky...) and it blew the 5AR4 when it was turned on by the customer, however the 5AR4 was a shitty JJ tube, so there is that to take into account. Thanks.
