If you really want to taste the best of EL34/6CA7 sound, try the black bottle Treasure series 6CA7. Like a cross between EL34 and 6L6. You get most of the extension and dynamics of a 6L6, with the midrange of an EL34. They have bested all Mullards and the JJ KT77 (which I also like a lot) in my Rogue.
That said, I still prefer EI KT90, GEC KT66,and RCA 6L6 blackplate in the amp. But if its gotta be EL34s in an amp, the Treasures are hard to beat.
