With a stock AI your stuck with Sovdreck's. Properly modded,which I've done for several folks, the AI can use any tube and last. Yes, the 7308's are especially prone to microphonics, even when run at or below Phillips specs.
Also worthy of noting, a synergy exists between the preamp tubes and the input/driver of the amp's tubes.
