I have a lit of tube testers with what an average new tube should test, for E88CC types and 6SN7Gwhatevers.
If a seller posts a reading for a tube and does not post what a new one should read, if I don't have the info, I send an eMail asking.
Most of the time, if the tube tests in the "new" range, the seller will include what "new" should test as.
My favorite seller ads are ones where they only list the cut off for Good, and the one listing a standard deviation from new!!!
I've wound up with a pair of NU 6SN7GTs that cannot be used for anything once they have been used for 10 minutes or so. They are used and since they didn't check out like new, I won them with low bids. No way to test for that unless the seller warms them up for an hour or so.
Another favorite seller I see is one that doesn't test his NOS ECC88, E188CCs, but won't tell me at what % of New he will accept back if they test poorly. So, I don't bid on them--plenty of other people selling the same tube, but test them first.
They are at least three or four people who participate in this forum that I would buy from and never worry about post sale support.
