Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have a pair that need some work and most of it is really beyond me. I have received and offer of $200.00 for the pair "as is" and I'm a bit hesitant to sell them. Here's a breif history on them,First off, these amps functioned in my system for 2 years or so. They were
stock when I got them but have had some caps replaced and amp #1 was modded
just a tiny bit. They began to develop problems and I put them aside because
of a career change at the same time.Amp #1---- bias is too high. The large multi-section cap has been replaced
with individual electrolytics below the board. The tubes have migrated to my
dyna and work fine so I know the bias problem is in the amp somewhere.
Cosmetic condition is decent however the paint is scratched a bit. The
damping knob and pot have been removed and bypassed and a set of 5-way
binding posts fitted.Amp #2--------- The problem I noted was " a light show in one of the EL34's
and a crackling noise in the spkrs"
This amp is still stock except for a dyna st70 style twist loc 4-section cap
installed underneath as a replacement for PS filtering.I was really hoping for a "as is" sale and not a trade. I am restoring a
Leak Stereo 50 and then my workhorse Dyna ST-70. I am not really confortable
with the idea of mod-ing or restoring the UL-II PCB's. I have not reached
that level yet and I think that someone with a bit more knowledge could make
these fully functional again without much effort or expense. Thanks
