I agree that the Hytron's are perhaps more colored than other 6SN7 and variants. But like Jack, I keep comin' back to that tube and comparing everything else against it, including red-based 5692's, Brimars, and various RCA's (which I happen to like). Actually I could do without the red-based 5692's which, in my system, sound hard, etched, and peaked in the upper midrange.
