Thanks for your input. I do realize that the KT-88 is a functional equivalent to the 6550 but they do bias up differently. After searching tube manuals I can't find information on both tubes that I can compare directly without having to make complicated conversions that I'm not qualified to make. The tube manuals were a dead end for my level of knowledge.I have been in contact with several folks who are more expert than I and know the 539B very well. It seems like Hickok did not ever publish specific 6550 set-ups or transconductance values. So, I guess my best option is to test the 6550 as a KT-88. But I don't think the tubes are exactly the same.
