You never know when you might hit paydirt with an inexpensive tube. Some say the NOS Russians sound to bright. But in my pre amp (Moified AI modulus 2D) nothing sounds better to me than NOS Tesla 6922 in the line stage. I like Siemens Germany 6922 in the phono section. These tubes may not work for you but I'm glad I tried them. Good luck finding something that souns just like another tube. I don't think it will happen. But if you change something upstream, a change downstream may make the difference. It could end up better than before. Good luck.
