Depending if the phase was already split at the 12bh7 that may work but I think the last 12ax7 may be amplifying the signal enough to drive the outputs.The mac amps are voltage operated in the drive stages but not the outputs and the reason they did that was lower distortion and higher power and the ability to drive any load.If you spec out an mc60 or an mc75 the distortion is typically .25 and not .5 at full power.This was actually unheard of in those days in a non industrial application.
