Thanks for the views. The Ref2Mk2 is already a wonderful preamp with the stock tubes. Like tkg, I would like to get some better tubes for the fun of rolling after it is well broken in. Is it true that the metal plate Philips miniwatt 5AR4 and the RCA black plate 6L6GC are consider two of the best tubes? If that's the case, it would a good idea to get one each and start tube rolling after a few months. Can't imagine how the performance of the Ref2Mk2 would leap like after adding wings to a Ferrari though:-)Thanks.
