Thanks all, I appreciate all the replys. Can you point me in the direction of decent non-biased valve vs. solid state articles. I'm intregued about the technical side of this. I'm going to take the suggestion of listenning to valves for a couple of weeks then switching back to the Krell, it's a very decent point, quick switching rarely works!As far as the soundstage well they seem very very similar in size. Bass on the ARC's are softer, perhaps less slam but with more character. I must note that I'm only using the Krell as a Power amp not as a pre (not good as a pre).
My speakers are horrible for underpowered amps as they go down to 25hz clean and about -1db at 20hz, this is usually where amps get tripped up, the ARC's appear to have no problem here.
