I was also wondering if you had correctly biased both output and driver tubes, and then done it again to correct for break-in drift.Meanwhile, I seem to run about 25% clinkers from all sources. No problems with returns from my sources, just the hassle. And, yes, it has happened to me several times that the 'same tube' goes bad twice only because its replacement just happened to be bad, too. If you do not match your tubes carefully, or replace them all at once with matched sets, this can compound or even cause premature failure of the 'oddball'. People who buy just one replacement tube of the same type are prone to have further problems, especially in 'modern', hi-bias circuits.
