Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have a pair of modded Dynaco Mark III amps using Uncle Neds input and cap boards. I had originally checked the voltages when I finished several months ago and the amps seemed to work fine, though looking back at my notes one amps heater voltage was a little high, 7.5vac and the other low at 3.5vac. I just hooked them up in triode mode to give em a listen and went through all the checks again. All the voltages checked fine except the heater voltage which were the same as before. These are supposed to be at 6.3vac.I am still learning what does what when you change that so I really am not sure where my problem is. I've swapped out tubes with no change and I'm using EH KT88's, GE5814A's and EH12BH7's in the output board and an EH5U4GB for the rectifier. The amps sound good though now that I've switched them to triode my trannies are humming a little more and I have a very slight hum from the speakers.
Any cause for alarm here and if so what can I do.
Thanks,
Brian
