Where are you getting the 300 ma spec for the 6SN7? On Triode Elec. "big tube data" page, my RCA tube manual, and the 3 other web pdf files listing 6sn7/gt/gta/gtb and VT231 data I checked all agree on 600 ma heater current. 300 would be VERY unlikely anyway; even in 9 pin tubes the filament draws 300 ma at 12.6 volts and 600 ma at 6.3 volts.
