Three questions to pose to the coqnescenti (I'm still just coming to grips with this stuff);
1) What sort of output device is in the McCormack (JFET/MosFET, etc.)?2) How is the output device coupled (Single ended, Push-Pull, etc.)?
3) How is it biased (Class A, etc.)?
I have exactly the same experience you do, my amps get up to their bias voltage in about ten minutes... but sound best after idling an hour.
There are some VERY sharp inmates here, they should be able to point you toward some lit on the web.
